While visiting an asylum, a young doctor (Robert Powell) learns the bizarre and disturbing case histories of several patients in a collection of four gruesome stories in the style of the 70s Hammer House Of Horror TV series.

Each story explains how various inmates ended up in the mental institution: Bonnie (Barbara Perkins) was attacked by the body parts of her lovers dead wife; Bruno (Barry Morse) was a tailor who made a magical suit that brought Peter Cushing's son back from the dead; Barbara (Charlotte Rampling) is a schizophrenic posh girl (with Britt Ekland as her alter ego) who stabbed her brother to death; and Byron (Herbert Lom) is a man who had made a murderous alter ego of himself in doll form.
