Fame (1980)
This
celebration of youthful optimism put the New York School for the
Performing Arts on the map, sired a television series and briefly
made a star out of Irene Cara.
The film was essentially an excuse for lots of limbs and
leotards, and catchy music such as the title track sung by Irene
Cara.
A successful TV series was spun-off from the movie, with many
of the cast reprising their roles for 60 hour-long episodes
between 1982 and 1987.
