The Aliens

The Aliens were one of the first Australian bands of the late 70s to adopt the New Wave "uniform" of black clothes and skinny ties.

Originally known as Riff Raff, The Aliens' hailed from Adelaide and played guitar-rich pop-rock with the influence on 1960's melodies.

The band relocated to Melbourne in 1978, but Graham Lewis and Kevin Patricks had left by the time Mushroom issued the singles Confrontation (December 1979) and Follow That Girl (February 1980), and the album Translator. Rob Grosser played drums on the records. Greg Webster left in June 1980, to be replaced by Randy Bulpin (ex-Mondo Rock) in September.

A new line-up of Stapleton, Greg Trennery (bass), Malcolm Fogg (drums) and Pierre Baroni (guitar and synthesizer) issued the independent single I Don't Care in February 1981, after which the band broke up. Stapleton went on to play with GANGgajang. Baroni worked in the art department of Mushroom Records for many years.
