Ben E King
King was singing with the New York group The Crowns when, in 1958,
they became The Drifters (following the
breakup of the original Drifters). King sang on There Goes My Baby,
Dance With Me, This Magic Moment, Lonely Winds and Save The
Last Dance For Me with the group before leaving to go solo.
His first solo recording was Spanish Harlem in 1960, and he
enjoyed success with First Taste Of Love (1961), Stand By Me
(1962) and I Who Have Nothing (1962).
