Johnny & The Hurricanes

Led by saxophonist Johnny Paris and organist Paul Tesluck, this five-piece group enjoyed nine chart singles, of which Red River Rock was the biggest.

Ed Cobb of The Four Preps probably based The Piltdown Men on this formula, for a number of The Hurricanes' recordings were based on evergreen tunes, as in Red River Rock (which was based on Red River Valley).
