Middle Of The Road
Scottish
quartet Middle Of The Road formed in 1970 - they had previously
been known as both Los Caracas and Part Four - and cut
five UK hits in a little over 12 months, including a Number 1 hit
with the beautifully baffling Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep
in 1971.
The third of their hits, which reached the UK Top Five, was Soley
Soley.
Vocalist Sally Carr (real name Sarah Cecilia Carr) was
undoubtedly the Baby Spice of the early 70s popscene and quite
possibly the reason the term "MILF" was invented!
The band re-formed in the 90s for live work in Europe,
predominantly in Germany. Bizarrely, original guitarist Ian
McCredie left the group to set up a rival version of the band
featuring his son and daughter-in-law.
