Anorexia and Bulimia

The secretive world of Bulimia and Anorexia was exposed through the tragic death of Karen Carpenter. It slowly crept into mainstream culture until every skinny girl was tortured by teachers, family and friends worrying over her obvious eating disorder.

Famous folk were outed as Anorexics or Bulimics (in a similar way to Gay "outings"). Most notable recipient of this treatment was probably Princess Diana. The discovery of these eating disorders coined the terms "Scarf and Barf", "Splurge and Purge" and (in Australia) "Chew and Spew".
