The Back of the Bus

The only place the cool kids sat on the bus to and from school (and on trips to sporting fixtures). In the 70s they would even smoke up there as the frail and ageing bus driver would invariably develop selective vision, hearing and sense of smell.

Many an early sexual adventure also took place in this setting (during what used to be called "heavy petting"!?).

If you didn't belong at the back of the bus you didn't ever want to be caught even remotely near it! A favourite trick of these cut-throats and thieves on my school bus was to throw the nerds schoolbag (eg: mine) out the back windows just as the bus left the bus stop. Ah . . . happy days!
