All's Fair
1 9 7 6 - 1 9 7 7 (USA)
23 x 30 minute episodes
This
CBS sitcom starred Richard Crenna as Richard Barrington and
Bernadette Peters as Charlotte Drake.
Problems were frequent for
couple Richard and Charlotte - the main one being that Richard was
49 and ''Charley'' was less than half his age at 23.
But
age difference wasn't the only problem for the 49-year-old
political columnist and the vivacious 23-year-old freelance
photographer. They were also at opposite ends of the political
spectrum: He was an arch-conservative and she was a liberated
liberal.
Love managed to keep them together despite the
stormy outbursts that occurred when the subject of government and
governmental policies came up.
The series was set in
Washington D.C. Al was Richard's assistant; his girlfriend Lucy
was a reporter for CBS News. Charley's roommate Ginger was
involved with a married Congressman; Wayne Joplin was a liberal
senator and friend of Richard's who usually sided with Charley.
When Richard became a special assistant to President Carter,
Ginger became his secretary and Carter aide Lanny Wolf (Michael
Keaton) was added to the cast.
