Please Don't Eat The Daisies
228 Circle Avenue,
Ridgemont, New York was the residence of the
Nash Family: James (an English professor at Ridgemont College),
his wife, Joan (a freelance magazine writer who used the pen name
of Joan Holliday), and their children Kyle and Joel, and twins
Trevor and Tracy.
Completing the household was Martha O'Reilly, the family maid
and Ladadog, a huge 150-pound sheep dog.
Next door neighbours were
Herb Thorton, a lawyer, and his wife Marge.
Other regular
characters were Gerald Carter (Dean of Ridgemont College), his
wife Ethel, and repairman Ed Hewley.
Joan was a most unconventional housewife - She hated housework,
preferring to sleep until noon, much to the consternation of their
next door neighbours Marge and Herb Thornton.
The series was based on the Doris Day film of the same name
which in turn was based on a book by Jean Kerr about an unusual
suburban family.
