In yet another fine Saint-style action series from ATV, Steve Forrest starred as wealthy Texan rancher and ex-jewel thief, John Mannering (who also worked as an antique dealer and had exclusive establishments in London, Washington and Paris). More importantly, Mannering also worked for British Intelligence using his trade as a cover.

In his globe-trotting adventures (assigned to him by John Templeton-Green of the Special Branch Diplomatic Service) Mannering enjoyed diplomatic immunity, drove a Jensen with the license number BAR, and was accompanied by the sexy SBDS Agent Cordelia Winfield (Sue Lloyd).

The series was loosely based on a character created by John Creasey, and spawned two TV features in 1966 and 1968 made from re-edited episodes of the series, entitled Mystery Island and The Man In A Looking Glass respectively.
