Sergeant Cork
 John Barry played the titular Victorian detective in this
series from ATV. Cork was ably assisted by Bob Marriott (played by
William Gaunt) in this atmospheric and historically realistic
series.
The Sherlock Holmes comparison was unavoidable, with the only
real difference being that the detection was viewed from a
pro-police point of view rather than showing up their
inefficiencies.
