Cheapy Saturday tea-time sci-fi tosh from BBC1, with 'Tripod
'design purloined from the cover of Jeff Wayne's War of the
Worlds album.
The Tripods presented England in the year 2089. The
Tripods have dominated the Earth for around 100 years, and have
enslaved those humans who survived the initial slaughter.
The remaining Earthlings wear mind control devices called caps
(so when a human child "comes of age" a capping ceremony
is held and yet another puny Earthling falls under the powers of
the Tripods.
Enter our hero, Will. A vagrant by the name of Ozymandias fills
Will's head full of notions of a place where human beings are free
to roam and live as they please. Will decides to run away to this
far away promised land, and his cousin Henry decides to tag along
for a laugh.
What follows are their adventures while travelling to the White
Mountain without getting caught by their three-legged masters.
