First airing on Monday January 5, 1970, this
long-running ABC soap concerned itself with the lives of the many
incumbents of the Chandler family and the Martin family who were
involved in a long running rivalry with the Chandler's.
The show has never been afraid to tackle the odd
controversial subject in it's time and was the first daytime soap to
air the issue of abortion.
As is typical in long-running soaps,
inter-personal relationships and marriages are so frequent and complex
that characters end up with hyphenated surnames longer than the
average firm of lawyers - such as Erica Kane Martin Brent Cudahy
Chandler or Brooke English Cudahy Chandler Martin Martin !
