Disco 2
1 9 7 0 - 1 9 7 1 (UK)
Disco 2 was the follow-up to Colour Me Pop,
the first BBC2 pop series. The show was promoted as "the show
which will do all sorts of zany things to illustrate the latest,
hottest sounds" and arrived on January 10, 1970, hosted by Tommy
Vance.
The featured acts in the very first show were David Ackles (who he?), Chicago,
Lou Christie and Emile Ford.
The following week's show boasted the The Peddlers (see David Ackles!),
Procol Harum, Juicy Lucy and
Fats Domino, which provided a
good indication of the program's diverse taste.
Disco 2 was eventually replaced by The Old Grey Whistle Test
in September 1971.
